Our last day in Varkala was crowned with an Hindu Festival in the town, which we were told would end with a Procession of Twenty Elephants dressed in all their Temple regalla. This was not to be missed and a great finish to our stay in india.

When we arrived in the town people were all starting to line the streets,as usual the children wanted their photos taking, their mothers in colourful saris just added to the occasion. The Festival started with a parade of floats, between each float traditional Indian bands
consisting of drums and horns sounded out ,and the sound was quite mesmerizing somehow. The teenage Indian people getting quite excited and bopping to the sounds. After a wait of about one and a half hours of floats and bands we got to this marvelous sight of twenty elephants all dressed up in temple decoration,it was a sight to behold and one we will never forget!!
