After leaving Alausi on our way to Cuenca we droppped in at Ingapirca. This was an interesting place, the Inca ruins were surrounded by well manicured lawns, kept neat by the dozens of local llamas. We were told that some of the locals used materials from the ruins to build their houses. But over the more recent years they have returned much of this material. Efforts were made to reconstruct some of the original out buildings but this had proved almost impossible as each stone had it's own specific place in the jigsaw of the original Inca village.
