The town of Ooty became a retreat for the British Raj in colonial times,to retreat from the heat of the plains.Ooty gained the nickname Snooty Ooty because of all the colonial mansions imported to house the British.Ootys real name is Udhagamandalam but no one can be bothered using the real name.so Ooty it is!

We stayed outside Ooty at the Hotel Sherlock away from all the hustle and bustle of the Town.The Botanical gardens were a peaceful haven,and it was interesting how the gardeners used sprigs of broom to protect the delicate young plants.

We became quite Friendly with an autorickshaw driver called Mr Murali who took us to his mountain temple which was a bit of a walk but well worth it,he then offered to take us to his house for a cuppa and meet his family which was a really nice experience and we too some family photos for him which he was really pleased with.
